This is a growth-track role designed for a technically strong engineer ready to transition into pre-sales architecture. You will work alongside senior Solution Architects and Account Executives to qualify opportunities, build Bills of Materials (BOMs), validate designs, and serve as a trusted technical resource for clients.
If you have hands-on experience as a Network Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Implementation Consultant and want to leverage that experience in a client-facing, revenue-impacting role, this is your path.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Support & Technical Qualification
- Partner with Account Executives to qualify technical requirements across networking, security, cloud, compute, and wireless
- Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and technical questionnaires
- Participate in client discovery calls and on-site meetings
- Build accurate BOMs using vendor tools (Cisco CCW, HPE, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.)
- Validate solution designs against requirements, budgets, and compatibility
- Review and support design validation prior to client delivery
- Answer client technical questions and provide solution guidance
- Present solution overviews to technical stakeholders
- Participate in demos, proof-of-concepts, and vendor sessions
- Partner with delivery teams to ensure smooth transition from pre-sales to implementation
- Pursue certifications supported by BlackHawk’s reimbursement program
- Shadow senior architects to accelerate growth into a full Solutions Architect role
- 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or implementation
- Working knowledge across at least three areas:
- Networking (routing/switching)
- Cybersecurity
- Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Virtualization/Compute
- Wireless
- Ability to read and interpret technical architecture diagrams
- Experience with vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, or similar
- Familiarity with BOMs, quoting tools, and IT solution structures
- Strong communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, AWS, or equivalent
- Experience in a VAR, MSP, or IT solutions environment
- Exposure to SD-WAN, SASE, or Zero Trust concepts
- Experience with tools like ConnectWise, Salesforce, or Cisco CCW
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Certifications (Desired or In Progress)
- Cisco CCNA
- CompTIA Network+ / Security+
- Fortinet NSE 4 or Palo Alto PCNSA
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or Associate
